ya_Next v8 beta - Cue list for Ableton Live

Built for the Real World of Live Performance

Preparing theater shows in Ableton Live often involves a transitional phase: while the creator is still fine-tuning elements, the technician already needs to run the show cue by cue without interruption. This is precisely what ya_Next was designed for.

The Problem

Ableton Live has a single scene list. During a live show, one wrong click can throw your entire performance off track. Jumping around to test or improvise means losing your place in the cue order.

The Solution

ya_Next gives you a completely separate, persistent cue list in its own window. Step through it with a single KEY/MIDI button — completely independent from whatever else happens in Live. Never lose your place again.

See It in Action

A dedicated cue list window, designed for clarity under pressure.

Version 7 Features

Powerful Features for Show Production

Markers

Use §§ to highlight scenes as markers (e.g. chapters or acts). Jump directly between markers using dedicated MIDI/KEY buttons.

Second Window

Open a second cue list window independently — perfect for monitoring what the technician sees. Each window can be sized individually.

Scrubbing

Assign MIDI controls for forward and backward scrubbing. Rewind or fast-forward the transport when rehearsal picks up mid-cue.

Export

Open the cue list as plain text for easy copy/paste into scripts or documentation.

Dynamic Theme

All colors automatically adjust to match your selected Live theme for a seamless visual experience.

Double Launch Prevention

Set a "debounce delay" in milliseconds to prevent accidental double triggers during critical moments.

How It Works

Simple setup, powerful results.

1

Build Your Cue List

Use all scenes or prefix specific ones with "§" to include them in your cue list. Use "§§" for markers like acts or chapters.

2

Open the Second Window

Launch the cue list in a separate window — ideal for a second monitor. The technician sees only what they need.

3

Step Through with One Button

Assign a single KEY or MIDI button to advance through cues. Auto-select next scene on launch keeps everything flowing.

It's Not for Everyone

But who needs it… needs it badly.

This device, like all ya_devices, was created out of a personal need many years ago and became an essential part of our show production process. You'll never go back to the scary days of a single scene list.
