How do people move together like that?
How do I safely give and receive weight?
What do I actually do when I enter a jam?
Contact Body gives you a place to start. Practice at home, at your own pace, and arrive at your next class or jam with a foundation already in your body.
The Practice
Contact Improvisation is a playful physical dialogue between moving bodies, first developed by dancer Steve Paxton and collaborators in the early 1970s.
Through touch, gravity, momentum, balance, and shared weight, we explore how to listen and respond through movement.
You do not need dance experience to begin — only curiosity and a willingness to move.

FAQ
Yes. Contact Body was created for beginners. Students come from many backgrounds — yoga, martial arts, meditation, somatics, dance, or sometimes no formal movement training at all. You can begin exactly where you are.
Solo Body: approx. 1.5 hours of teaching. Allow around 2.5–3 hours including practice.
Two Bodies: approx. 2 hours of teaching. Allow around 4 hours including practice.
A clear space of roughly 10 × 10 feet on a smooth, dance-friendly surface. Comfortable clothing that allows sliding and movement. For Two Bodies, dance knee pads are strongly recommended.
Avoid practicing falls or weight-sharing techniques on concrete.
You receive ongoing access after purchase, so you can revisit the lessons whenever you want. That said, momentum helps. We recommend choosing a weekend or several evenings and actually moving through the material.
Because this is a digital course with immediate access, purchases are non-refundable. Contact Improvisation is a physical movement practice and carries inherent risk. Please work within your own limits and modify or stop any movement that does not feel safe.
